This is the litmus test of a la Who is who? Lord athletes from Russia! Your feelings and your confusion are understandable. But only do not need your dissatisfaction with the decision of the IOC executive committee to pour on those citizens of Russia who are in favor of expressing this dissatisfaction with your refusal to participate in the Olympics.

1. And do not constantly refer to "sport feats" - not only do you do heroic deeds in Russia, but it seems that you are more likely than others to represent not less, but often more heroic professions, like to remind of these exploits. By the way, they are much more modest than those of your Soviet predecessors. And not every participant of the Olympics or the World Championship from Russia today makes such exploits. Not every!
2. The second argument of many of you, but especially those who lobby your fundamental right to participate in the Olympics "under any flag and sauce", which is more frank: "you can not deprive the athlete of his dreams"! And not an athlete (normal, in terms of athletes, a person?) - you can deprive him of his dreams? "Simple", "ordinary" people also expect from the country, from the state, from the officials protecting "their dreams." But are their expectations often justified? However, these people, by the way, the same citizens of Russia, like you, do not demand that they are guaranteed and guaranteed by this "dream" in spite of everything. Maybe they are worse than you? No, they are just more modest. Although in their work, in their profession, they are no less talented than most of you in your profession.
3. Of course, the sport of higher achievements is much more competitive than many other spheres of human activity. But not all. Art in all its manifestations is also competitive. And science. And politics. And journalism. And much more, including the notorious business, into the system of which (in its sports version) you are now rigidly and for life included.
  4. And not only your professional life is short. In ballet, for example, it is even shorter ...
5. An athlete, like any participant in any other competition, not just sports, must be ambitious and ambitious. There is nothing to argue with. But it is these people who most often have to make choices, including the choice between professional interest and civic position.
6. This is the choice now before you. Well, do not take responsibility for it on others, especially those who are in favor of choosing the second between personal sporting interest and civil interest.
7. By the way, what about team solidarity? If some members of the national team, in your opinion, were unfairly deprived of the right to participate in the Olympics, then, perhaps, this is the reason to show such solidarity "admitted under the neutral flag"? Or is talk of this solidarity also only up to the first "conflict of interests"?
8. How many times in the last hours it was said that "the spectators and without any form, flag and hymn will know which country is the winner" and that in the phrase "athlete from Russia" there is still an indication of the country. Do not be hypocritical, do not play with words, do not try to absolve yourself from responsibility.
9. Between the formula "member of the Russian national team" and "athlete (athlete) from Russia" exactly the same difference as between the words "citizen of Russia" and "citizen of Russia." Do not pretend that you do not understand this difference. And you will not argue that abroad, you so usually appear: "citizen of Russia."
10. President Putin, saying that Russia will not boycott the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang and prevent our athletes from participating in them, once again helped you. What he was guided in this case, is not important. But it is clear that it is tempting to take advantage of this as an indulgence. However, personal moral choice will still have to be made to each of the athletes. Including those who like to say that at the Olympics and other international competitions, he not only strive for personal victories, but also "protects the honor of the country." We have repeatedly heard from you this phrase, by the way, very much like an oath, on oath.
Many athletes who became Olympic champions and world champions were defended and managed to defend the "honor of the country", that is, the honor of Russia, not facing what our athletes are facing now. But in the current force majeure circumstances, in order to "protect the honor of the country," this moral choice must be made. It is the athletes, not the fans, not the spectators, not "simple" and not so heroic, as athletes, people.

Well, do it, athletes!
